Healthcare Transactions Group closed the sale of DeQueen Medical Center, a certified Critical Access Hospital in DeQueen, Arkansas, licensed for 25-beds, with home health services and a 10-bed Rehab Unit.  The transaction closed on April 1, 2017.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) designates rural hospitals as “Critical Access” if they:

  • Have 25 or fewer acute care beds.
  • Are located more than 35 miles from another hospital
  • Maintain an annual average length of stay of 96 hours or less for acute care patients.
  • Provide 24/7 emergency care services.

Critical Access Hospitals are eligible for cost-based reimbursement from Medicare.
